We then check every physician against NPPES, the federal registry run by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services: the name, degree, and specialty shown on each card are what the registry itself reports, and the NPI number links straight to the public record. Physicians whose registry record we cannot verify are left off this page until we can.
State licensure is drawn from the same credentialing records and counts only active licenses. A physician can only consult with patients in states where they hold an active license, which is why the network spans the states Pru covers.
